PopDose: The Beginning

PopDose is my first real foray into blogging. Just a few months out of graduate school – I received my Master’s degree in Gender/Cultural studies in December – and now I find myself blogging as an outlet for all of my thoughts and criticism on popular culture (and I am sure my impatient Bostonian self will succumb to the occasional rant).

I find myself at a great loss, going from a graduate student who lives, eats, and breathes her studies to an adult in the “real world” without much to occupy my time outside of work. My grad school focus was on media studies with my specialty in lesbian representations in film and television. Therefore, this blog shall focus on popular culture.

I have put a LibraryThing blog widget (in the right-hand column) up to display my books. It is not my entire library, just my books pertaining to popular culture and other topics of relevance to this blog. I highly encourage everyone to check out LibraryThing. It is, quite simply, AWESOME. And they were prominently featured in today’s New York Times! I cannot do them justice, but LT is social networking around books for bibliophiles. The folks at LT are all great, but I am partial to Abby. :)

So, I will do my best to update the blog daily and keep it fun and interesting for myself and others!
